This one-of-a-kind coffee was grown by Jairo Arcila, a third generation coffee grower, on his Santa Monica farm in Quindio, Colombia. Arcila worked for Colombia's second largest coffee exporter for over 40 years as a Mill Manager until his retirement in 2019. He purchased his first farm (Finca La Esmeralda) in 1987 and, using the extra money raised from that farm, he slowly managed to purchase five additional farms over the next 30 years. After Esmeralda came Villarazo, Mazatlan, Maracay, Buenos Aires and Santa Monica, where this lot of Caturra was grown and harvested. Now that he's retired and fully focused on his farms, Arcila helps provide jobs to the locals of the community, generating an economic impact throughout the region.
During harvest, these 100% Caturra Pink Bourbon cherries were strictly picked with the same level of ripeness, exposed to a dry anaerobic fermentation for 48 hours with dried mandarin skins, and later shadow-dried in parabolic beds, again mixed with the mandarin skins until the ideal moisture content was achieved. The result is an elegantly balanced mix of Terry's Chocolate Orange, lemon zest and mint tea.
Each bag contains 250 grams of coffee. Roasted in Los Angeles by section1.
